Recebi hoje o press-release (veja na íntegra clicando em DETALHES) da SuSE sobre o lançamento de sua distribuição com suporte específico para as características avançadas do Opteron, novo chip de 64 bits da AMD. A Red Hat planeja lançar versão similar no último trimestre, e a Mandrake já lançou sua versão em Março. A Microsoft também promete lançar uma versão do Windows para este chip em algum momento no futuro...

Released today, SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 for AMD64, Powered by UnitedLinux - gives customers a stable, secure platform on which to build their next generation applications.
